I've been knocking back the smoothies for breakfast all summer long and now I'm longing for something more substantial. And as I'm not quite ready to transition to porridge just yet, enter the smoothie bowl. A trend/fad that I am so on board with and I'll tell you why. I love smoothies and I love granola. Smoothie bowls have both. They are quick to make and, when made right, taste delicious. And last of all and most importantly, they allow me to include lots of nutrients in one breakfast. When done right, smoothie bowls can be high in protein and low in sugar and still taste really great.
Before I get to the recipe, let's take a little detour. And forgive me if you are sick of the "back to routine" style posts that have taken over the interent this week. But I am 100% in love with having a schedule again. It's weird because I don't have children and I work for myself so really it's up to me when to impose routine and when not too. But it's just so much easier to have a routine when everyone else has one. In fact, I'm so all over routine this week, that I ended up sitting in a waiting room for an appointment this morning that isn't until tomorrow morning. At the start of the week, I was so delighted with my 'to-do' list, that I ate the frog big time on Monday and did the five worst things on it first. And I'm also taking the return to routine as a good time to start the practice of "choosing three things each day to prioritise and feck the rest" that everyone is talking about. I'm loving it, btw. The start of Autumn is so much better than the new year for this kind of stuff. Plus all the good shows are back on the telly.
And with that, read on to see how easy this Frozen Berry Smoothie Bowl is to make!
