Frozen Berry & Spinach Smoothie

This smoothie is a really easy way to eat/drink some leafy greens. It’s especially focused at children who may not fancy chowing down on a large bunch of spinach leaves each day. In this smoothie the spinach is blended with frozen berries, oats, nut butter and your milk of choice resulting in a smoothie where you don’t even taste the spinach. Oats are added to make this smoothie filling and the nut butter provides extra protein. Adding honey is optional depending on how sweet a tooth you are catering for. Perhaps start with adding honey and gradually reduce the amount you add each time until you rely on the berries alone for sweetness.

Serves 2

Ingredients

2 ½ cups unsweetened almond milk

2 cups baby spinach leaves

1 cup frozen berries

½ cup oats

1 tbsp nut butter

1 tbsp honey (optional)

Method

Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Divide between two glasses and serve immediately. If you don't want to drink this smoothie straight away, it will keep in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 48 hours. Just shake well before drinking.
