The Honest Project Guide to eating well at Kildare Village

The hottest day of the year saw my sister and I driving to Dublin for an appointment. Not wanting to miss out on the sunshine completely, we stopped in Kildare Village on the way home; not with shopping in mind, but rather to grab some food and make the most of the rather nice outdoor terrace at one of Kildare Village’s latest food offerings; Le Pain Quotidien.
Le Pain Quotidien is located in the recently opened extension to the shopping village and is a welcome addition. I'm pretty sure that this outlet is the first Irish location for this international chain of bakery-restaurants. Le Pain Quotidien, as the name suggests is most famous for it’s breads, but offers a varied menu with plenty of healthy options to try. Think organic lentil and avocado salad, roasted vegetable and ardsallagh goat's cheese salad and 'chilli sin carne', a vegan bean chilli with guacamole, soya sour cream, diced tomatoes and spring onion. Non vegetarian options include chorizo and potato frittata, chicken cobb salad and tuna nicoise. Avocado features heavily in the menu, which straight away endears me to the place.
After a bite to eat, we took a stroll to nearby Joe’s Coffee, also located in the newly opened extension. Joe’s Coffee is much more than just a coffee shop. It’s part of the same enterprise that counts Alchemy Juice Co. among its brands and so it’s no surprise to see cold pressed juices and healthy salads on offer here. We went there with the intention of just grabbing a coffee for the journey home (which was really really good btw), but couldn't resist adding a few protein balls to our order; they are on the counter, right by the till so it's next to impossible to resist.
